No-one lives in Antarctica indefinitely in the way that they do in the rest of the world. It has no commercial industries, no towns or cities, no permanent residents. The only settlements with longer term residents (who stay for some months or a year, maybe two) are scientific bases.

9/26/2016 · Some people will work in Antarctica for a year or a bit longer but no one lives here permanently. Some people do come back year after year, spending about 6 months in Antarctica, and 6 months elsewhere. Some of the people that I’ve seen in Antarctica on this trip were working down here when I made my first trip to Antarctica in 1994.
